Heather holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Florida State University and a Bachelor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance from Brigham Young University-Idaho. During her time at BYU-Idaho, the university hired Heather to be a student teacher to incoming freshman voice majors. Since then, Heather has spent several years teaching voice lessons to people of all ages. In addition, throughout her academic career, Heather was a sought-after vocal coach/accompanist at the collegiate level, working with dozens of singers who were preparing for juries, auditions, and recitals. In addition to teaching, Heather also loves performing, both as a soloist and as a choir member. Heather has performed the roles of Lula in FSU’s production of Carlisle Floyd's Cold Sassy Tree, Nella in BYU-Idaho’s production of Puccini's Gianni Schicchi, and several other partial roles in opera scenes productions. Heather was a member of the premier auditioned choir at both universities and a soloist for several concerts. Heather has also performed for numerous events in her community.
Despite Heather’s emphasis on vocal studies, the piano was the instrument that introduced Heather to her love of music. She began playing the piano at the age of 8, and she participated in many solo competitions and festivals throughout high school, winning her district competition during her sophomore year. During middle school and high school she accompanied several of the choirs and played the piano for jazz band. In college, Heather continued to accompany choirs and individual vocalists for their lessons, juries, and senior recitals.
Heather and her husband have two beautiful little girls. Besides music, Heather enjoys spending time with her family and friends, playing games, and reading good books.
